Day 1: 30 Days. 30 Minutes. Are You In or Out?

Today I'm launching 30 Days. 30 Minutes. A Challenge to Refine Your Small Business.

30 day small business challenge

I'm going to be really honest for a minute. This is a horrible time for me to launch a challenge like this. I'm neck-deep in my favorite client projects of all time, and there are not enough hours in the day. Like...not at all.

But guess what? That also means this is a great time to do something like this. I'll share some of my personal rationale in later posts, but this is one of those times when Gretchen Rubin's Secret of Adulthood: The opposite of a great truth is always true comes into play.

The timing for these things will never be perfect, so the timing for these things is always perfect. (Not 100%, but it has weight worth considering.)

Who is This For?

This is for all the small business owners out there like me. Not enough time, not enough focus, not enough ________ to prioritize refining our business.

This challenge is for small businesses at different stages of launch and growth. Whether your business involves just yourself (and your husband/kids/besties when you need to make a shipment deadline) or a small team, you'll walk away with bite-size action items for growth and sanity.

What Will I Get Out of It?

And what exactly do you mean by "refining?" When I speak of refinement, I mean purifying your messaging, improving your workflows, polishing your marketing, honing your skills and fine-tuning the elements that actually matter in the work you're trying to do.

This will include small daily challenges that should take you 30 minutes or less. They'll be posted here on the blog and also sent via email. Most will include a free downloadable resource to help keep you on track and motivated.

Why Are You Doing This?

We're all friends here, so I'll be 100% transparent.

  1. Because I love entrepreneurs. I seriously LOVE y'all. I flock to you at social gatherings, I lean in way too closely when you're sharing your ideas, I start talking really fast (with crazy eyes) when you ask questions. I'm amazed and inspired by what you're doing. And I want to help as much as I can.
  2. Because I would like to grow my community. I have some fun ideas I would love to implement over the next few months, but my mailing list is weak. I've been in business for almost 7 years, yet I have focused on it...none. I know! The irony. I help clients build their communities, yet I do not do this for myself. This is one helpful, interesting way I can improve.
  3. Because I need this myself. Remember what I said at the beginning about being neck-deep in work? It's often when we're at full capacity that we start making professional mistakes. We take the wrong projects, we say yes and no to the wrong things, we let 7 years slip by and realize we have neglected to build a mailing list. I don't want to make these mistakes (or make them again), so I'm implementing this challenge for myself. And I'd be delighted if you join along.
